A Letter From Mark
Mahar:
If one is
truly hopeful to achieve the satisfaction gained through
personal greatness (any journey), then one must subscribe to something
larger than his/her own self-interests (while consistently
pursuing a better understanding of the terrain).
Having always
possessed a grand vision for my business and career (my
self-interests), I have been forced to scour my imagination and motives
to define a higher purpose. I've dismissed many
great ideas (many of which could be "profitable" if I
were willing to overlook my sense of obligation to art &
innovation).
As a result, I
have come to measure the merit of art & innovation
(commerce) by three things:

Opportunity -
The truest of opportunities being the gifts we are given
as human beings - the ability to
learn, teach and love. I'm an opportunist.

Honesty- The
purest and most powerful way to gain and distribute true
opportunity. I don't waste valuable time with
lies (and I have no patience for dishonesty). Any
worthwhile business has to satisfy a real need or it
isn't worth starting.

Country -
Appreciation of the freedoms & liberties bestowed upon
every citizen of this great country, while acknowledging
that I am the benefactor of countless generations who
have provided for me a world of opportunity (some at
great risk to themselves; some at the cost of their
lives). I will die trying to preserve the spirit
of art & innovation for the next generation (while
serving to
protect and enhance the legacy of such a luxury).
I started this
company to serve something greater than my
self-interests. My life is my business - I'm an artist and
innovator who seeks an opportunity to exercise my
talents on the grandest scale (for the most noble of
purposes). I didn't find my cause in a book.
I am here now because I'm a student, a teacher (yes,
even a lover)
and I'm honest with myself. I don't have patience
for anyone who wastes opportunity, talent and awareness.
I have labeled
it and built a company/career around it.
Mahar Enterprises, Inc. is uniquely positioned to foster
talent: artists & innovators – those who have exceptional
talents in several areas and a passion for consistently
challenging themselves.
The team I assemble are typically more qualified to
build and run a major entertainment entity than Walt Disney was when he
built his theme park.
I may one day build a theme park...but right now I'm
creating opportunities.
Permanence in any vocation requires dedication (that is
why permanence in history is reserved for so few).
I could be famous tomorrow (so could you)...that's not
why I entertain audiences, feed my creativity, foster
innovation or decided to open my company. I, along
with the teams I have assembled, apply my talents to
unique strategies, products, services and overcoming
obstacles in unique ways (to serve some greater).
The result is a collection of efficient and driven
people who tap their talents on demand.
The next several years should be
exciting for my little "company that could".
I
hope you’ll keep tabs on our progress (and I invite you
to cheer us on with your support and comments).
My
financial reward, as a direct result of pursuing my
business with passion and integrity, is inevitable.
Whether I achieve greatness in my career/life, however, is dependent upon how many people embrace my
vision. I have no control over the latter.
Therefore, all I can do is communicate my vision (and now I have -
to you).
I envy those who
can dismiss their long-term vision and sense of purpose for
the sake of immediate
gratification...I cannot. My awareness in life and
business, the two in concert, are my greatest strength
and my greatest weakness.
I have no control
over what you do with this information. I remain
hopeful that it will warrant your response.
I have chosen a course for my life and business. I
